Which test do we use?

A real-time PCR will be performed on samples of syphilitic ulcers.

Sampling instructions

  • In presence of ulcers: a sample of the ulcer with the aid of a dry synthetic swab or E-swab.
  • Other material: contact the laboratory.

 

Volume

 

  • Dry swabs: a dry swab in a closed container.
  • Other material: contact the laboratory.

 

Storage conditions

If possible, send the samples as soon as possible to the ITM.

 

Dry swabs, cerebrospinal fluid and serum/plasma can be stored at 2-8°C for max. 4 days and can be sent to the laboratory at room temperature.

 

In case the sample needs to be stored for a longer period, they can be stored at -18°C and need to be shipped frozen to the laboratory.

 

E-swabs can be stored at 2°C-30°C for max 4 days and can be sent to the ITM at room temperature.
