Histoplasma PCR

Which test do we use?

A PCR that detects Histoplasma capsulatum.

Specimen: Biopsy or deep respiratory sample (bronchoalveolar lavage fluid)

Sampling instructions

Biopsies should be taken in a sterile manner and immediately placed in sterile physiological water for transport.

Storage conditions

The sample may be sent to the lab at room temperature, but the duration of transport should be kept as short as possible (preferably not sent over weekends and public holidays). A biopsy should be protected from dehydration (send in sterile physiological water).

Important advice

Indicate sample type, clinical picture, country and manner of exposure on the request form.

Samples with an insufficiently motivated request will not be analyzed.
