Which test do we use?
Microscopy after Knott concentration (hemolysis and centrifugation) and Carazzi coloration, identification of the species and microfilaria count.

3,3 ml of EDTA blood
Storage conditions
Non-fixed samples should reach the lab within 3 days.
Important advice
Preferably procure the sample during the time the microfilariae circulate in large quantities in the periferal blood (nocturne-diurne periodicity).
